Lawyer Referral Service
  • 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on weekdays - Portland: (503) 684-3763 - Elsewhere in Oregon: (800) 452-7636
  • The Oregon State Bar's Lawyer Referral Service provides information on more than 1,600 lawyers statewide. You can select the right lawyer for you based on theirpractice type, location, and special services including foreign language ability and licenseto practice law in other states. This program also offers you an in-office consultation for a fee of $35.
  • The Lawyer Referral staff can help you focus on the type of assistance you may need, or give you more information on the Oregon State Bar, government, or community service programs that may be able to help you.

 

Modest Means Program

  • You may be eligible for legal assistance at a reduced rate. Assistance is offered to qualified applicants based on client income and assets, the type of case, and availability of a participating lawyer in the client's county. This program also offers you an in-office consultation for no more than $35 and no more than $60 per hour for legal work provided to clients of the program.
  • You must complete a Modest Means Client Applicant Form to be considered for this program.

 

Problem Solvers

  • Oregon lawyers volunteer as Problem Solvers to offer free legal information and adviceto children. Any young person between the ages of 11 and 17 can call to request a referral to this program. Referrals include a thirty minute office visit with a volunteer lawyer. This service is not available in all areas.

 

Tel-Law

  • To access Tel-Law recordings, call (503) 620-3000 in Portland or (800) 452-4776 within Oregon. Tel-Law is also accessible through the Oregonian's Inside Line at (503) 225-5555, Ext. 8529 (T.Law).
  • The Oregon State Bar's Tel-Law Program provides free, general legal information recordings accessible to the public by phone. Recorded and available 24 hours-a-day,taped selections of general information span more than 100 different legal topics. Some recordings are offered in Spanish and Vietnamese. Legal Issues for Older Adults

  • Legal Issues for Older Adults is a comprehensive and understandable guide to legal issues important to senior citizens. Topics covered in this reference manual include health care, wills, housing, property management, age discrimination, and much more.
